Today is Saint Patrick’s Day in New York City. For the first time in 268 years, the parade and all festivities have been postponed indefinitely to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The irony of closing every bar in the city on the day before St. Patrick’s Day is lost on no one; but no great tradition is worth a greater tragedy.
